Weight Loss Management

Sustainable weight loss solutions

What does weight loss management look like at iVee Restorative Care?

You’ve likely tried numerous fad diets to shed pounds, only to find that any weight you’ve lost comes right back once you resume a more sustainable eating and exercise routine that fits your busy lifestyle. It’s no surprise that people often feel frustrated with these programs and eventually give up. The slow progress, fluctuating weight, and complex diet plans do not provide the foundation for long-term success.

At iVee Restorative Care, our approach to weight loss is fundamentally different. Our practitioners focus on removing the barriers that prevent you from reaching your weight loss goals. There’s no need to overhaul your schedule for group meetings or decode complex dietary systems. Instead, we utilize a scientifically based weight loss system, incorporating medications like semaglutide and tirzepatide for those seeking a healthier lifestyle.

This system emphasizes overall wellness and is thoroughly customized and overseen by medical professionals, ensuring it aligns perfectly with your health needs and lifestyle.

What are semaglutide and tirzepatide injections for weight loss?

The pursuit of effective and safe weight loss treatments is continuous. Yet, the anti-obesity medications semaglutide and tirzepatide have maintained significant attention since their 2021 approval by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.

Originally developed as treatments for diabetes, semaglutide and tirzepatide are now the first medications since Saxenda in 2014 to be approved for chronic weight management in the 70% of American adults who are classified as obese or overweight.

Treating Obesity

Ongoing research underscores the efficacy of semaglutide and tirzepatide injections in facilitating weight loss, emphasizing the importance of treating obesity as a chronic metabolic condition rather than a mere failure of willpower or lifestyle adjustment.

However, it’s important to note that semaglutide and tirzepatide are not a one-size-fits-all solution and may not be suitable for everyone.

How semaglutide and tirzepatide work

Semaglutide and tirzepatide belong to a class of medications known as glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonists, or GLP-1 RAs. They work by mimicking the GLP-1 and GIP hormones that are naturally secreted by the intestine after a meal, which prompts insulin secretion.

GLP-1 interacts with the parts of the brain that suppress your appetite and signal you to feel full. When used in conjunction with diet and exercise, semaglutide and tirzepatide can cause significant weight loss in people who are obese or overweight.

The typical dose for weight loss is 2.4 milligrams, administered weekly as subcutaneous (under the skin) self-injections.

Who should (and should not) take semaglutide or tirzepatide for weight loss?

The FDA recommends these injections for weight loss if you meet one of the following criteria:

  • Have a body mass index (BMI) of 27 kg/m2 or greater and at least one weight-related condition, such as high blood pressure, Type 2 diabetes, or high cholesterol.
  • Have a BMI of 30kg/m2 or greater.

Avoid if you have:

  • History of medullary thyroid cancer
  • History of gallbladder disease
  • History of pancreatitis
  • Multiple endocrine neoplasia syndrome type 2 (MEN2)
